Combined Heat and Power, CHP

Combined Heat and Power, CHP, is the use of a turbine or reciprocating engine to simultaneously generate electricity and useful heat from a single fuel source such as gas or oil.

Conventional methods of generating electricity, where vast amounts of heat is simply wasted, are inefficient and costly to the user.

By capturing the heat produced in the generation of electricity and converting it into a usable resource such as hot water or steam, CHP can vastly reduce operating costs and increase production efficiency.

Why CHP?

The applications for gas engines and CHP systems is immense. Any business that uses power and needs heating or cooling can benefit greatly from the implementation of combined heat and power.

We have been awarded the Irish Sales and Service contract for 2G Germany. We have just installed and commissioned our first 2G engine in Castlederg, Northern Ireland.

Foyle Meats

AC Energy have installed a 2G Avus 500plus biogas engine in Foyle Meats Campsie production facility, offering an electrical output of 550kW and thermal output of 543kW.

Ballyrashane Creameries

We are delighted to announce that we have just taken on board the service and maintenance contract for an 850kW site, Ballyrashane Creameries, based in County Derry. The creamery is an independent co-operative still owned by local farmers and which contributes financially, socially and environmentally to the local rural community.
